‘No question’ – Club official makes definitive claim on the future of Spurs-linked striker

Monaco’s vice-president Oleg Petrov has said in no uncertain terms that rumoured Spurs target Wissam Ben Yedder will stay at the Ligue 1 side beyond the summer.

The 29-year-old has been in impressive form since his move to Monaco from Sevilla last summer.

He had netted 19 times in 31 games since returning to France (transfermarkt.com), which has seen him score the same amount of goals as Kylian Mbappe, only for the PSG man to win the Golden Boot as all his goals came from open play, while three of Ben Yedder’s were penalties (ESPN).

It has been claimed that that the striker’s goalscoring record is attracting interest from a whole host of clubs, including Spurs (L’Equipe via Be Soccer).

The likes of Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Valencia, Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, and Arsenal, are also said to be tracking the French international.

GFFN claimed last week that Ben Yedder was keen to leave Stade Louis II after just a year.

However, Petrov has now insisted that Monaco have no intention of letting the striker leave.

Speaking to RMC Sport (as relayed by Le10Sport), the club’s vice-president said: “We always want to keep Wissam.

“He is a great asset for the club, a great pro. We expect him to stay in Monaco.

“There is no question of him leaving the club.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Ben Yedder has proven over the course of his career that he knows where the back of the net is. He will score a bucket load of goals no matter which club he plays for.

However, I do not think he is the sort of back up we need for Harry Kane. We ideally need a target man who is capable of holding the ball up, rather than a fox in the box like Ben Yedder.
