‘No words’ – Son, Hojbjerg and co react to Mourinho sacking

Following Harry Kane’s send-off message to Jose Mourinho, the likes of Son Heung-min, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Lucas Moura, Eric Dier and Ben Davies have all taken to social media to thank the Portuguese coach.

Multiple publications (The Telegraph and The Athletic) have reported that Mourinho’s relationships with the players becoming increasingly strained was one of the main reasons behind why Daniel Levy decided to pull the plug.

There were several reports over the past few weeks indicating that the dressing room was split about the former Spurs boss.

However, sources have suggested that Mourinho retained Kane’s support all the way through and it has thus come as no surprise that the striker was the first to take to social media to thank the 58-year-old.

Son has now posted a touching message expressing his disbelief at the outcome while Dier, Davies, Moura and Hojbjerg thanked the special one for his help.

Academy youngsters Dane Scarlett and Marcel Lavinier also took to social media to admit that they are indebted to Mourinho for handing them their debuts.

Spurs Web Opinion

While one cannot read much from players’ social media activity since many of their handles are managed by PR agencies, it is clear to see based on how few have come out and thanked Mourinho that there was a divide in the dressing room.

It was always clear that the likes of Kane, Son, Lloris, Lucas, Hojbjerg and Davies were on Mourinho’s side but I doubt the same can be said of the likes of Bale, Dele, Aurier, Alderweireld, Winks etc.
