‘Not a target’ – AC Milan Sporting Director rubbished Aurier rumours before reported bid

AC Milan Sporting Director, Frederic Massara rubbished the idea of his side signing Serge Aurier under the current conditions this week.

Tuttosport reported earlier in August that Tottenham were demanding around £20.5m for the former PSG defender, while AC Milan valued him at around £14.5m.

During a press conference on Tuesday (MilanNews24), Massara claimed that Aurier was not a target ‘under these conditions’ and his club could not think about signing the player. However, he did acknowledge that Aurier was a name ‘associated with Milan.’

He said: “Aurier at the moment is one of the many names associated with Milan. He is an excellent Tottenham player but at the moment there are no conditions to be able to think about him. He is not a target under these conditions.”

Despite this, it was reported today that AC Milan had submitted an opening offer for the Ivorian right-back, although it was rejected by Tottenham (Sky Sports).

Sky Sports added that the two clubs remained far apart in their valuations of Aurier, which lined up with what Massara had hinted towards in his interview.

However, they also added that the two clubs remained in talks over a deal, despite the impression given by Massara.
