‘Not at a place that values you’ – Spurs player posts message amidst lack of game time

Steven Bergwijn has taken to social media to post a message about feeling valued amidst his struggles for game time at the North London club.

Bergwijn has not been handed had too many starts since Antonio Conte arrived at Spurs at the start of November, with the Dutchman having to be content with a few cameos off the bench.

The 24-year-old has made some of his opportunities count though, most famously netting a brace to help Tottenham turn around their clash against Leicester in dramatic fashion two months ago.

Performances like the one he put in at the King Power Stadium were perhaps the reason that Spurs decided not to let the winger leave during the January transfer window despite Ajax trying to take him back to the Eredivisie (The Sun).

Bergwijn produced an excellent display for the Netherlands on Saturday, netting a brace to help the Dutch overcome Denmark 4-2.

Following his display for Louis Van Gaal’s men, the winger posted a message on Snapchat. The former PSV Eindhoven man wrote: “No matter how precious you are, if you are not at a place that values you, you are nothing.”

I do sympathise with Bergwijn as he has been quite unlucky not to get more opportunities over the last few months. The 24-year-old has done well whenever chances have come his way.

However, with Kulusevski playing so well and with Conte also seemingly being a fan of Lucas Moura, it looks unlikely that the Dutchman will feature too many times this season unless there are some injuries.
