‘Not desperate’ – Journalist reveals Tottenham’s transfer stance ahead of deadline day

Journalist Dean Jones has said that Tottenham Hotspur are not particularly desperate to push through any incomings or outgoings before the transfer window slams shut.

Tottenham made a brisk start to the transfer window, strengthening two key positions by bringing Timo Werner and Radu Dragusin through the door.

The Lilywhites also wasted no time in offloading Eric Dier and Hugo Lloris, who were evidently surplus to requirements for Ange Postecolgou.

The early frenzy perhaps convinced some Spurs fans that the club could end up doing quite a lot of deals, but things have gone eerily quiet around Hotspur Way over the last few weeks.

No signing appears to be on the pipeline on deadline day while the likes of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Bryan Gil also do not appear to be close to an exit.

In fact, Postecoglou himself confirmed in his press conference on Tuesday that there are unlikely to be any late arrivals or departures at Spurs (Reuters).

Tottenham are happy with January transfer business

Jones has now confirmed that the North London club are quite pleased with the squad they have assembled and are not particularly determined to make something happen in the dying hours of the window.

The journalist told GiveMeSport: “I’m hearing that nothing is really concrete. They’re very happy with what they did with Radu Dragusin and Timo Werner. So I think Tottenham are not desperate to make something happen in the final days.”

The one other addition that Spurs fans would have hoped for this window is a central midfielder. However, with Maddison now back fit, Postecoglou certainly has plenty of options in the middle of the park, particularly since Hojbjerg also looks set to stay.

I can understand why the club might have put off their pursuit of Conor Gallagher until next summer rather than paying over the odds to bring him in now.
