‘Not even up for debate’ – Pundit would take West Ham star over Harry Kane

Jason Cundy has claimed that he would have Michail Antonio over Harry Kane in his side due to the Tottenham man’s current form.

Kane’s performances so far this season have left a lot to be desired since his proposed move to Manchester City fell through in the summer transfer window.

The striker has looked a shadow of his former self and is yet to find the back of the net in the Premier League this season.

The 28-year-old has come under a lot of criticism for his lacklustre displays, with some questioning the wisdom in Tottenham’s decision to hold on to him against his wishes.

Kane served a reminder on Thursday of his quality in front of goal, netting a hat-trick after coming on after an hour against NS Mura.

However, Cundy has asserted that it would be a no-brainer to have Antonio, as well as Brenfrod striker, Ivan Toney, over Kane, considering how the Tottenham man has started the campaign.

When asked who he would want between Kane and Antonio, the former Chelsea defender told talkSPORT: “Oh, God, yeah. Without question. That’s not even up for debate right now. Antonio right now, over Kane.

“Chelsea are playing Juventus. If Romelu Lukaku can’t play and you gave me the choice of Kane and Antonio to put on that blue shirt. I’m not going Harry Kane, I’m going Antonio. Every single time.

“Ivan Toney, I’d pick him over Kane right now. Form is temporary, class is permanent. Right now, Harry Kane has not got any good form. I’m not saying he’s not class.”

In fairness, Cundy does have a point. Antonio is certainly offering more to his team than Kane is at the moment. However, over the course of a whole season, there are very few players in the world that I would take over Kane. I am confident that the striker will still easily end up getting 25+ goals in all competitions this campaign despite his slow start.
