‘Not everyone’ – Non-league Chesterfield mock Tottenham on Twitter

Chesterfield have taken a brutal dig at Tottenham on Twitter following their Carabao Cup exit against Chelsea.

Spurs were beaten 1-0 by the Blues on Wednesday night, with Antonio Rudiger’s first-half tally the difference between both sides.

However, it didn’t come without the want of Spurs trying to mount a fightback, which saw them denied two penalties by VAR after initially being awarded them by referee Andre Marriner.

Harry Kane also saw a goal disallowed for offside midway through the second half which cemented Chelsea’s spot in the final with a 3-0 aggregate win.

Antonio Conte’s side were not yet free to wallow in their sorrows, though, with non-league outfit Chesterfield getting in on the act to mock the manner of the exit.

The Spireites faced Chelsea in the FA Cup last weekend and despite being on the end of a 5-1 thrashing, couldn’t resist but to point out they netted against Thomas Tuchel’s side – something Spurs failed to do in 180 minutes of football.

Spurs Web Opinion

It hasn’t been the best week for Spurs, to say the least, and this just sums it up completely. Spurs had chances in the second leg of the semi-final but ultimately they came when the tie was dead and buried. If anything, the exit just signified just how much work is needed to get Spurs competitive again.
