‘Not happy’ – Fabrizio Romano provides update on Gareth Bale’s future

Fabrizio Romano has stated on the Here We Go podcast that Tottenham will not be extending Gareth Bale’s stay at the club beyond the end of the season if the Welshman does not show a marked improvement in his performance.

Bale’s return to Spurs has not gone according to plan with the Welshman having struggled to make an impact in the opportunities that have come his way.

Most of the winger’s minutes this season have come in the domestic cup competitions and the Europa League.

However, 31-year-old was not in Tottenham’s matchday squad for the FA Cup clash against Everton last night, with Jose Mourinho confirming that the player wanted to have a scan as he was not feeling 100 per cent.

The Daily Mail reported last week that Tottenham’s patience towards the experienced wide man is ‘wearing thin’, with those at the club questioning his hunger and appetite.

Romano has now also claimed that Spurs are not happy with Bale’s inability to make a difference to the team.

The Italian journalist said that there is ‘no chance’ of his stay at North London being extended if his struggles continue.

Spurs Web Opinion

I think it is fairly obvious that Spurs will not look to extend the loan deal if Bale does not improve drastically over the next few months. I suspect the Welshman does not even care where he is next season.

From the 31-year-old’s body language, it seems like the main reason he came to Spurs was to build his fitness ahead of the Euros and that he will be happy to sit on the sidelines at Real Madrid next season and see his contract out.
