‘Not linked with Dusan Vlahovic’ – Fabrizio Romano provides update on Fiorentina deal

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Fiorentina are expected to complete a deal for Lille winger Jonathan Ikone, who was previously reported to be on Tottenham’s radar.

Ikone has developed considerably since his move from PSG two years ago and his performances for Lille have seen him establish himself in the Les Blues squad.

The 23-year-old continues to be a regular feature in Jocelyn Gourvennec’s starting line up but his current contract with Lille ends at the end of next season.

Spurs were linked with a move for Ikone during the summer of 2020, with Telefoot journalist Julien Maynard revealing at the time that the North Londoners had enquired about the player’s availability.

However, according to Romano, Ikone is now bound for Florence after the Viola made a €15m (£12.8m) offer for him.

The journalist first revealed the negotiations between Fiorentina and Lille were in the final stages and that the Serie A club are confident of completing the deal.

Romano then provided another update on the story, stating that the French international has accepted Fiorentina’s contract proposal and that a transfer will be completed in January.

However, he also added that the deal had nothing to do with Dusan Vlahovic’s future, who has also been linked with Spurs of late.

Spurs Web Opinion

Ikone was seemingly a target for the previous regime at Spurs but with Fabio Paratici and Antonio Conte now at the helm, I doubt if the 23-year-old is still on the club’s radar. Besides, I do not think we need a wide forward of Ikone’s profile, with Lucas, Son, Bergwijn and Gil already at the club.
