Not signing players may be ‘playing with destiny’ says Poch

Tottenham Hotspur famously became the first ever Premier League club not to sign a single new player in the summer transfer window this year.

Since then Spurs have achieved their best ever start to a Prem season after nine games, all without any new faces in the squad.

However, with a mixture of injuries and players coming to the ends of their contracts, Pochettino and Daniel Levy may need to dip their toes into the winter market.

Spurs fans will be hoping to see some fresh signings come the January window, as they push for this years’ title.

Tottenham currently sit only two points behind leaders Manchester City and Liverpool, level on points with rivals Chelsea.

Pochettino has now claimed that it would be playing with their destiny for Spurs not to freshen up the squad in the new year, implying that signings are on the way.

The Evening Standard report he said: “If you ask me I am happy, I am happy with the result but I think you cannot play with the destiny and you need to do the things properly.

“I don’t want to say that it is not doing things properly to not sign but, we need to try again in January or the summer to try and sign if we want to move on the team and the club.

“Now it will come, January, and we are going to try to sign and then, if it is not possible, we are going to tell you it was not possible to sign but I think, not only us, all the clubs and managers want to sign players, must refresh the squad, it is necessary and if today happens that, we can say ‘okay well done’.”
