Tottenham are closing in on a second deal with Manchester City after completing their move for Savinho, with Fabrizio Romano revealing when Omar Marmoush could be announced as a new Spurs player.

Tottenham finally put an end to the long-running Savinho transfer saga on Thursday, and attention has now turned towards the second part of their Manchester City raid, Omar Marmoush.

The Egypt international has been heavily linked with Spurs throughout the summer after finding game time difficult to come by as Erling Haaland’s backup during his 18 months at the Etihad.

Roberto De Zerbi has been described as a ‘big fan’ of Marmoush, who has already agreed personal terms with Tottenham and is reportedly keen on the move.

With only an agreement between the two clubs now standing in the way, we have fresh updates on Tottenham’s pursuit of the Man City forward.

Tottenham close in on Omar Marmoush agreement

Over the last 24 hours, multiple sources have described Tottenham as ‘confident’ of completing a deal for Marmoush, and Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas has now provided another positive update.

He wrote on X: “#Tottenham are very close to agreeing a deal to sign Omar Marmoush from #ManCity. Talks at an advanced stage and progressing well. Maresca confirmed Doku has an injury however and with Savinho already joining #Spurs, #MCFC are short of forward options.”

Fabrizio Romano too has confirmed that talks are progressing between the two clubs in his latest YouTube video, while also giving us a timeline of when the deal could get over the line.

“The expectation is for Omar Marmoush to be the next one (after savinho), because Omar Marmoush has an agreement on personal terms with Tottenham Hotspur.

“Omar Marmoush is keen on this move. He’s keen on this new project at Tottenham, with the possibility to be an important, very important player for Roberto De Zerbi, while at Manchester City he found very limited space under Pep Guardiola.

“And that’s the expectation also for this season with Enzo Maresca. So this is why Tottenham are expected, probably not today, but in the next days, to close the deal for Omar Marmoush. So there is optimism to get it done.”

Speaking ahead of Manchester City’s Premier League opener against Bournemouth, Enzo Maresca confirmed that Savinho had been pushing to leave the club, but insisted Marmoush’s situation is different.

“Omar is still here, still with us. it’s a different situation to Savio and we see. Savio since day one asked to leave and Omar didn’t ask to leave since day one. Not yet,” he said.

“It’s always complicated when someone leaves and one has to arrive. We’ll see if Omar stays or what happens.

“For sure, we are going to have more options in case players go out. As I said already a few times, if they go out, someone has to arrive.”
