Some Tottenham fans might have been left wondering ‘what if’ following Jack Grealish’s recent rise to stardom.

Spurs were heavily linked with the Aston Villa man in the summer of 2018 but they failed to get the deal over the line, with Grealish later admitting that he was extremely disappointed when the move fell through.

Since then, the 25-year-old has gone from strength to strength, playing a crucial part in Villa’s promotion during the 2018-19 campaign before proving his quality in the top flight.

Grealish seems to have gone up another level this season and has gone a long way towards sealing his place in Gareth Southgate’s starting eleven after his recent performances for the Three Lions.

That suggests that it is disingenuous to suggest that Levy’s penny-pinching cost Tottenham the chance to sign Grealish, as £25m is by no means a negligible offer for someone who was not proven in the Premier League at that time.

That was perhaps why Roberts decided to call-out the ‘£3m plus Onomah’ narrative but the Tottenham legend made it clear that he does rate Grealish very highly as he tweeted out the following words of praise for the midfielder:
