‘Nothing has changed’ – Spurs star sends defiant message to fans after Chelsea loss

Eric Dier has taken to social media to promise Spurs fans that he and his teammates will put in the work needed to improve after the Lilywhites fell to a 3-0 loss against Chelsea on Sunday.

After a bright start to the season, which saw Nuno Espirito Santo’s men win three from three, they have fallen to two successive 3-0 defeats against Crystal Palace and Chelsea.

Spurs now face a difficult trip to the Emirates for the North London derby next weekend, knowing that a loss would take them below the Gunners in the Premier League table.

Dier returned to the starting eleven against the Blues after going off injured in the clash against Palace, and on the whole, the England international, and his centre-back partner, Cristian Romero, coped well with the threat of Romelu Lukaku.

However, that was not enough to prevent the Lilywhites from falling to another embarrassing loss and as a result, the pressure is now starting to pile up on Nuno’s men.

Dier has now taken to Instagram to insist the players were never under any illusions regarding how much they needed to improve.

The centre-back’s post read: “We knew after the first 3 games there was still a lot to work on and after the last 3 nothing has changed, still lots to work on and improve and we will.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Dier was one of the few Spurs players to come away with credit from the Chelsea game. I thought the 27-year-old was smart in the way he dealt with Lukaku as he did not get too tight to the Chelsea striker. Hopefully, he and Romero can develop a good understanding quickly.
