‘Nothing is imminent’ – Journalist provides update on Emerson to Spurs talks

The Athletic’s Jack Pitt-Brooke has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur have not got a deal for Barcelona’s Emerson Royal over the line yet, and still have work to do on the transfer.

Rumours first emerged a couple of days ago that Spurs had begun talks with Barcelona over Emerson.

The Catalan giants allegedly rejected Tottenham’s first offer for the right-back and the North Londoners were backed to return with a second offer.

It looks as though Fabio Paratici has done just that, with multiple sources reporting today that the North London club have agreed on a fee with the Catalan club for the Brazilian.

Sport have even asserted that Spurs could officially announce Emerson’s capture over the ‘next few hours’.

However, Pitt-Brooke has now warned Tottenham fans that the transfer is far from complete.

The journalist stated the Lilywhites are working to sign Emerson but ‘nothing is imminent’ as of Monday lunchtime.

He suggested that Nuno Espirito Santo’s men will look to move Serge Aurier on before bringing in a new right-back.

Spurs Web Opinion

With so many sources now reporting that Spurs have agreed on a fee with Barca for Emerson, I am confident that we will be able to get the deal for the Brazilian over the line.

I suspect Paratici has decided to snap up Emerson irrespective of whether the club are able to find a buyer for Aurier before tomorrow’s deadline.
