Sky Sports news editor Lyall Thomas has taken to Twitter to clarify reports on behalf of his Italian colleague Gianluca Di Marzio regarding Antonio Conte’s future at Tottenham Hotspur.

Multiple news outlets earlier today including Metro and Goal carried reports claiming that Di Marzio had said on his  L’Originale’ program on Sky Sport Italy that Conte will leave his position as head coach of Tottenham at the end of the season.

Thomas revealed on Twitter that Di Marzio had asked him to clarify the reports by insisting that the news was purely his opinion on what will happen come the end of the season since Conte is not prepared to enter into contract talks with Tottenham at present and is instead focusing on the remainder of the campaign.

Conte is under contract in north London until the summer with Tottenham having the option to extend his time at the club by a further twelve months should they wish to (Daily Mail).

Thomas wrote: “I’ve spoken to Gianluca this morning and he asked me to clarify; Spurs have proposed talking to him about a new contract but Conte doesn’t want to talk about it while he is concentrating on the season in hand. It is just Gianluca’s prediction that he won’t be the coach next term.”

It has not been a great few days for Tottenham Hotspur with the news surrounding Fabio Paratici‘s future following his 30-month ban from Italian football which also includes a request for an extension to cover UEFA and FIFA activities, that would surely impact his role at Spurs.

Conte’s future is also likely to impact Harry Kane’s decision making over a new contract – it would be fair to say, from the outside looking in, the club is in a mess.
