BT Sport have predicted Spurs will finally break their trophy drought this season and will win the Europa League. This was predicted in their ‘Script of the Season’ which was created via Google, Opta and Squawka (BT Sport).
The script predicts that Tottenham will suffer heavy defeats to Bayern Munich in the Champions League group stage. However, unlike last season, they are not able to pull off a shock comeback and drop into the Europa League.
While this would be seen as a disaster at the time for most Spurs fans, the team go on to beat Manchester United in a thrilling final that brings Spurs their first trophy since 2008.
This means the season would probably be viewed as a success in the end. Although, after last season’s exciting run to the final of Europe’s premier competition, Spurs fans would be entitled to believe they should be aiming to emulate Liverpool by winning the Champions League the season after finishing runner’s up.

Winning the Europa League would be the first major trophy for Poch’s Spurs and I think most Spurs fans would regard that as a brilliant season. However, while this ‘Script’ is good fun to read, it’s almost impossible to predict so many variables at the beginning of the season which means this prediction should be taken about as seriously as Arsenal’s push for top 4.
