Nuno asked what he thinks Giovani Lo Celso’s best position for Spurs is

While it was Harry Kane who walked away with the match ball against Mura in the Europa Conference League last night, Giovani Lo Celso arguably had an equal claim for the Man of the Match award.

The Argentine started the match on the right side of attack and scored Tottenham’s second goal as he drifted more central and finished expertly into the top corner.

For the rest of the first half, Lo Celso struggled to get into the game as he predictably continued to cut inside onto his left foot, however, things changed in the second 45.

With the arrival of Kane, Lucas Moura and Heung-min Son, Lo Celso was shifted to a number ten role and suddenly had multiple runners to pick out.

He subsequently assisted one of Kane’s hat-trick goals and created a number of other promising openings, calling for one journalist to ask Nuno what he thinks the midfielder’s best position is.

Nuno replied (Football London): “In terms of his position of Giovani, he is a versatile player, very versatile.

“Just take a look at his career, not too many years ago he was playing as a six at PSG, then moved to Betis and played higher up the pitch.

“It is always to do with the shape of the team, but I think Gio is a very talented and versatile player that can play in different positions in front.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

For me, Nuno has rather accidentally hit the nail on the head there. Lo Celso is either a number six deeper in midfield or he is a number ten further forward. He is not a right-winger. His dependency on his left foot and his lack of pace makes him too predictable.
