Nuno comments on Bryan Gil injury after Spurs starlet is forced off against Burnley

Nuno Espirito Santo commented on Bryan Gil’s injury last night in his post-match press conference after the 1-0 Carabao Cup win over Burnley.

The Tottenham head coach revealed that Gil was on ice and was being assessed, but they would have to wait for a more detailed review before commenting on the extent of the problem.

Gil was handed a start and a chance to impress against a Premier League team last night, with most of his previous outings coming in the Europa Conference League.

Unfortunately, the Spaniard was forced off early into the encounter, appearing to hold his right hamstring while shaking his head.

Lucas Moura replaced Gil and went on to score the winning goal, heading home from an Emerson Royal cross in the second half.

Tottenham are now through to the quarter-finals and will be hoping to have Gil fit and ready to go with them.

Nuno said (Football London): “He’s on ice and he is being assessed. There’s not much more so let’s wait to the proper assessment.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

Gil needs to keep getting as many minutes as he can to get used to his new club and the pace of the Premier League. An injury is the last thing he needs as it tends to completely disrupt a first season. Look at Ndombele, Lo Celso and Sessegnon.
