Nuno Espirito Santo asked about Lautaro Martinez transfer rumours

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Nuno Espirito Santo refused to comment on the rumours surrounding Lautaro Martinez this afternoon following the club’s 1-0 win over Arsenal in the Mind Series.

Spurs were without a recognised striker against the Gunners, with Heung-min Son leading the line in Harry Kane’s absence.

With Carlos Vinicius returning to Benfica after his loan spell came to an end in the summer, Kane is once again the only senior out-and-out striker in the Tottenham squad.

However, the Times reported today that Spurs had agreed a £60m plus fee with Inter Milan for Argentine striker Lautaro Martinez this summer.

Football London’s Alasdair Gold admitted the deal had a long way to go as Romelu Lukaku’s potential transfer to Chelsea could make things more difficult for Spurs.

Martinez’s agent even told FC Inter 1908 that his client is happy at Inter and will not fight to leave this summer.

When asked about the rumours, Nuno simply replied (Alasdair Gold): “I will not speak about any player. I will only speak about my players, Tottenham players, nothing else.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

This is what every football manager should reply to that question, anything else is just disrespectful. The more that is reported about Martinez, the more it sounds like a difficult deal for Spurs to pull off. However, the intention to spend that much is good to see.
