Nuno provides update on new signings and Spurs player sales this summer

Tottenham’s new head coach, Nuno Espirito Santo, refused to rule out imminent transfers into North London this summer, insisting that anything can happen in football.

Spurs have yet to make their first signing of the summer under their new Portuguese coach and managing director or football, Fabio Parartici.

However, reports have claimed that the Lilywhites were very close to agreeing on a deal with Bologna to sign Japanese defender, Takehiro Tomiyasu.

With the European Championships and the Copa America, many star players have been in action this summer, thus making early transfers more complicated, which was highlighted by Nuno.

The former Wolves man reiterated that Tottenham are working every single day to be ready to improve the squad if possible.

The Spurs coach was also asked about potential interest in current Spurs players, with Nuno highlighting that he wants those who remain at the club to want to be there.

Asked whether there could be imminent transfers, he said (Football London): “Anything can happen in football, it happens so fast.

“This transfer window has been different because of the Euros, because of the struggles of the pandemic, all these things have delayed things.

“Us as a club are aware and working on a daily basis because we have to be ready on a daily basis to react if it’s necessary. Improving our squad is not an easy job and we have to be really accurate and clinical on who we bring.”

On transfer interest in the current Spurs players, he added: “Of course because we have very good players, I believe that, when you have such good players all the clubs around the world look at you and see what they can do, but I hope that everybody here wants to be here, this is the main message.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

Tottenham will not go crazy in this transfer market. I would expect a series of sensible new signings around the £10m to £20m mark, with around four or five outgoings to fund these moves. The money is not there at the moment for a huge spent but they will be as positive as they can.
