Nuno reveals when Harry Kane told him that he would stay at Tottenham

Nuno Espirito Santo has revealed that Harry Kane told him of his decision to stay at Tottenham Hotspur yesterday morning.

The 28-year-old striker took to Twitter on Wednesday to thank the fans for their support in recent weeks and also to reveal he would remain in North London this summer.

Kane came off the bench for his first appearance of the season during the second half of Sunday’s 1-0 win against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League and was given a warm reception by the Spurs fans who had made the trip to Molineux.

Sky Sports journalist Paul Gilmour admitted that Kane had held positive talks with Tottenham’s managing director of football Fabio Paratici ahead of making the announcement over his future.

Kane informed Nuno that he would no longer be looking to seek a move away from the club during the current transfer window, having been heavily linked with a move to current champions Manchester City (Sky Sports).

Nuno told Football.London at yesterday’s pre-Pacos de Ferreira press conference: “I knew when I knew, when Harry told me….this morning, great news, fantastic news.

“He’s much better [with his fitness]. Harry joined us for 20 minutes in the previous game. He did fantastically well. He’s progressed, he’s improving, it’s a day-by-day process and he’s an option for tomorrow.”

With Kane’s short-term future now put to bed for the time being, it will certainly allow the club to concentrate on matters both on the pitch and also with an eye on the transfer window which closes at the end of the month.

It would have been hugely unproductive for the saga to run into the final days of the window.
