Nuno reveals when he expects to be able to talk directly with Harry Kane

Nuno Espirito Santo admitted following Tottenham’s 2-2 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last night that he has not yet spoken to Harry Kane.

Kane has not reported back to Tottenham following his summer break yet as the striker reportedly attempts to force through a move to Manchester City.

The England captain has reportedly been fined by the club for his actions and is expected back at Hotspur Way later this week.

Even without their talismanic striker, Spurs showed plenty of fight at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday as they came back from two goals down to level the match thanks to second-half strikes from Lucas Moura and Steven Bergwijn.

Nuno would have been impressed by what he saw from his troops in what was Tottenham’s biggest test of their pre-season campaign so far.

However, the Spurs head coach appeared less impressed by the fact that he received a question about Kane first up in his press conference, choosing to bat it away.

When he was pressed on the matter, Nuno admitted that he has not spoken to the 28-year-old yet.

When asked if he has spoken to Kane, the Portuguese coach responded (Football.London): “The answer I will give you is I expect, I really expect, to speak with Harry soon and I haven’t had the chance yet.”

One has to feel sorry for Nuno as he would not have anticipated this sort of behaviour from Kane before taking up the job. The situation is an unwelcome distraction for the Spurs boss and his coaching staff as they prepare the team for the start of the season.
