Nuno reveals when Lo Celso, Romero and Sanchez will return from Croatia

Tottenham Hotspur head coach, Nuno Espirito Santo has revealed that the South American trio of Giovani Lo Celso, Cristian Romero and Davinson Sanchez will not return to North London until the day before the upcoming Chelsea match.

Spurs host Chelsea at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on September 19th, meaning the trio will return on the 18th after their international breaks with Argentina and Colombia.

As such, this means Lo Celso, Romero and Sanchez will miss the game against Crystal Palace and Tottenham’s first Europa Conference League group match.

This will force Nuno to split up a back four that has recorded three back-to-back clean sheets in the Premier League, with Sanchez having been an integral part of that.

Lo Celso and Romero were involved in a dramatic encounter in Brazil last week, when health officials marched onto the pitch and called a halt to proceedings, claiming four Argentina players were meant to have quarantined after arriving from the UK.

The South American trio are currently training in Croatia with a Spurs coach in order to avoid a self-isolation period in the UK. All three will reportedly be fined by the club upon their return, as they did not have permission to travel to ‘red-listed’ countries.

Nuno said (Football London): They will arrive the day before the match against Chelsea so they will not be available for the Conference League game.

Spurs Web Opinion:

This whole thing has been a joke, especially for Lo Celso and Romero to only play a few minutes for Argentina. Essentially, Spurs have lost out and the players didn’t even end up playing. I only hope it does not impact the game against Palace.
