Tottenham Hotspur have offered the vacant managerial position to Ralf Rangnick, according to Bild journalist Christian Falk.

The North Londoners are looking to appoint a new head coach following the dismissal of Jose Mourinho last month.

Tottenham have missed out on two potential candidates in the past week after Julian Nagelsmann was confirmed to become Bayern Munich‘s new manager this summer while Ajax boss Erik ten Hag has extended his contract with the Dutch giants by a further twelve months until 2023.

Rangnick has been out of work since he terminated his contract by mutual consent with RB Leipzig in July of last year, having most recently held the position of sporting director and held a desire to return to management (Daily Mail).

Falk claimed that Rangnick is on the shortlist at Tottenham and has previously been coveted by Manchester United and Everton, only for a move to fail to materialise.

He told Bild: “We have already talked about how Rangnick and Tottenham could become hot, and I have now heard quite specifically that he was offered the job,”

“In any case, he is on the shortlist, and that means talks will come.

“From the club, he still hears a bit of scepticism, but he’s already held talks with Manchester United and Everton in the UK in the past that never quite worked out.

“There must have been reasons for that, we don’t know them all, but it’s nice that he’s now being discussed.

“They need a new Tuchel, and in the UK, they believe the German coaches have done a lot of groundwork, which could be a big ace in the hole for Rangnick to Tottenham.”
