West Ham forward Jarrod Bowen has called Harry Kane a ‘joke’ after training with the Tottenham striker with the England squad ahead of their upcoming Nations League fixtures.
Bowen put together a stellar campaign with the Hammers as he helped them reach the Europa League semi-finals and qualify for next season’s Europa Conference League.
Producing his most productive campaign to date, the 25-year-old’s 18 goals and 13 assists across all competitions (Transfermarkt) were enough to capture the attention of Gareth Southgate, who handed him a first call-up to the England fold.
With the Three Lions set to take on Hungary twice, Germany and Italy over the next couple of weeks, Bowen has had time to get acquainted with some of his new colleagues, including captain Kane.
The Spurs talisman enjoyed a strong end of term as he helped inspire his side back into the Champions League and he has now left a good first impression on Bowen, who praised his finishing abilities and hard-working persona.
Bowen told England’s Youtube channel: “In terms of hardest trainer, Harry Kane. We did finishing yesterday, I wasn’t keeping up with him. I was like, ‘Oh my god, this guy is a joke’.
“Right foot, left foot, header, shoulder. That is the level he sets for himself, he probably gets annoyed when he misses. Yesterday was just an eye-opener – this is the level. This is what the level needs to be.”

Plenty of players have singled out Kane’s finishing as something they have always been impressed with, but you can tell he wants to work hard every day too which says a lot about his drive.
As the captain of the national team, he has to display that in front of his colleagues to get the best out of them and that is crucial with the World Cup around the corner.
