Jamie O’Hara believes that Toby Alderweireld would be a fantastic signing for Manchester United.

Alderweireld was due to become a free agent this summer until Tottenham triggered a twelve month extension to keep him at the club until the end of the season, however, by doing so they activated a release clause that means he could leave if a bid of £25m is received from another club fourteen or more days before the end of the current window (Sky Sports).

The Belgian was a target for Manchester United last summer but a move failed to materialise (Sky Sports).

The central defender has had an impressive season in North London where he made 34 appearances in the Premier League.

O’Hara admits that he would be disappointed if Spurs lost the services of the 30-year-old, but believes he will be on United’s summer shopping list especially considering the price which he is available for.

O’Hara said on The Transfer Tavern show on talkSPORT (5:26pm, June 8, 2019): “Man United are in desperate need of a centre-half, and he would 100% be on their list. He must be, for that price.

“I think he would be a fantastic signing for them. I would be gutted to see him leave Spurs.”

Losing Alderweireld would be a huge blow for Spurs, losing him to a Premier League rival would be absolute madness.  Daniel Levy needs to do everything in his power to keep Toby at Tottenham.
