Oliver Glasner says it’s ‘easier to prepare’ against Tottenham due to ‘very obvious’ patterns

Oliver Glasner has made some interesting comments about how his Nottingham Forest side are preparing against Roberto De Zerbi’s Tottenham.

Spurs travel to the City Ground looking for their first points of the season, having lost both of their matches against Brentford and Newcastle.

Three defeats in three will undoubtedly kickstart talks of a crisis, especially given the investment that Tottenham have made in the squad.

De Zerbi will be hoping for a much better showing from his side as some of the new players get up to speed, but his opposite number has made interesting comments about the clash in the Midlands.

Oliver Glasner reveals why it is ‘easier’ to prepare against Tottenham

Glasner acknowledged that it is difficult to predict who will start for the Lilywhites tomorrow, given the options that De Zerbi now has at his disposal.

However, the Austrian hinted that the Italian’s clear and distinctive style makes the tactical preparations for the game easier, adding that Tottenham’s patterns are ‘obvious’.

Speaking about his side’s upcoming opponents, the Forest boss said (via BBC Sport): “They have many options. They have invested massively in their squad, and that makes it difficult to know who will probably start. On the other side, De Zerbi has a clear way he plays with his teams.

“That makes it a little bit easier to prepare. The patterns are very obvious. They have certain ways we expect them to press us, and that is how we prepare the team.”

Roberto De Zerbi refuses to comment on Glasner’s remark

The Tottenham boss is certainly not shy of confrontations or speaking his mind. We saw that when he had a public spat with Cristian Stellini when he came to N17 as Brighton boss three years ago.

However, De Zerbi decided against addressing Glasner’s remark when the Austrian’s comments were put to him.

When asked about the Forest boss’s words, De Zerbi told Football.London: “I don’t know. No comment on the other coach’s interview”, before giving a wry smile.
