Olympiacos manager sends warning to Spurs ahead of Champions League

Pedro Martins, the Olympiacos manager, has warned Spurs and Bayern Munich that they will not find it easy to beat Olympiacos.

They entered the tournament in the second qualifying round and are yet to concede a goal, which shows that an away game at the Karaiskakis Stadium will not be an easy win.

Martins was quoted by Portuguese paper ‘Noticias Ai Minuto‘ saying “We will face two very strong teams, but you must remember that it is not easy to come to our stadium to play

“We can have a good day and catch them while they are not playing well, but we also recognise the fact that both Bayern and Tottenham are the prime candidates [to qualify].

“If we are not able to go through, our aim will at least be to get to the Europa League.”

Clearly, Olympiacos have high ambitions for this season, securing a place in the Europa League ahead of Red Star Belgrade would be impressive but qualifying ahead of Spurs or Bayern would be incredible.

Spurs will have to be wary of both Olympiacos and Red Star Belgrade, both clubs will be underdogs but have the ability to cause an upset at home. Red Star stunned Liverpool last season by beating them 2-0. Tottenham will have to be careful they don’t fall prey to the same kind of result from either of these two teams.

Spurs Web Opinion

Many Spurs fans were excited because the group stage draw was much kinder than in previous years. However, neither Red Star and Olympiacos will be easy games. The away games will involve long trips and the stadium will have a hostile atmosphere.
