Omar Marmoush has revealed the feeling among the Tottenham players as they played out another goalless draw against Everton.

The summer signing from Manchester City has played twice for the Lilywhites since his move, and both matches have ended in a 0-0 draw.

Tottenham have struggled to create chances and provide service to Marmoush and the other forwards, which will not have been what the Egyptian anticipated when signing for a Roberto De Zerbi side.

However, the 27-year-old is certainly not downbeat about the future despite the team’s struggles in front of goal.

Omar Marmoush says Tottenham players need to stop thinking about goalless start to the season

After the draw against Everton, De Zerbi admitted that his players may have a mental block in front of goal, and that the pressure of not having scored may be playing on their minds.

Marmoush believes that despite the lack of goals, there have been big positives for the side, and he insisted that the players need to be calm rather than hectic in the final third.

The forward said (via the club’s official website): “If you review the last game, you see positive moments where we look strong and once that clicks, not just in moments of the game but most of the game, and it starts to get rolling, the wins will start coming step by step.

“Last game (against Forest) I had a big chance I could have scored and a few decisions that if I made better, it would have ended in a goal but, in regard of scoring goals, you have to just keep going at it and stay with the basics.

“Don’t be too hectic, not so pressured to score goals because that will never happen if you just keep thinking about it. Just we’re all working, all of us. We know we haven’t scored any goals in the league, so we’re working hard on that.”

Marmoush has no doubts about Spurs’ quality

The former Man City man certainly knows a quality team when he sees it, having shared the dressing room with world-class players at the Etihad Stadium.

Marmoush insisted that Tottenham have ‘amazing’ players in their squad, and he believes they will click as a team with time.

The 27-year-old added: “I believe we have an amazing team, you know, top quality, honestly. I’m very happy to be starting and playing. I try to listen to what Roberto says and what he demands, not from me only, from the whole team. He’s one of the best coaches in the world. How he teaches us the tactics and explains the game, it opens our mind.

“The lads here are very nice people, everyone in the club has welcomed me so warmly, so they made it much easier to settle and hopefully here’s to many more starts and wins more importantly. We know that we need time in order to achieve big things because it’s a new phase, so it always needs to take time and not everything functions suddenly.

“All of us are trying to achieve something together, and we’re trying to progress every day, become better in each and every small detail of the game, and the group feeling is very positive.”
