Omar Marmoush just showed Tottenham why they should spend big on the Man City star

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Omar Marmoush, whose latest international performances have highlighted exactly why the North London side could be considering a move during the winter transfer window.

Tottenham Hotspur continue to be linked with various forward options as the winter window edges closer, with the side under Thomas Frank reported to be looking to strengthen their forward line.

The latest player to be linked with a move to North London is Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush, with the interest surfacing shortly after the club reportedly pulled out of the race for Antoine Semenyo.

Marmoush has struggled for regular game time at Manchester City this season, and the versatile forward has managed to score just once after playing 389 minutes in all competitions.

The City forward has had to contend with injuries earlier in the season and is currently away with Egypt for the Africa Cup of Nations, where he earned a start in their opening group stage match against Zimbabwe.

Marmoush impressed in the encounter, scoring the equalising goal for Egypt as they eventually secured a 2-1 victory over their opponents to get their tournament off to a winning start.

The underlying stats for the wide forward were equally impressive, as he completed the most dribbles in the match with seven and registered eight shots, four of which were on target.

He also recorded 73 touches, with eight coming inside the opposition box, while maintaining a pass accuracy of 86 per cent and completing eight ground duels as he looked to play passes into the final third.

Why Omar Marmoush will suit the Spurs attack under Thomas Frank

The overall play of the forward is what makes him a standout talent, and it is easy to see why Tottenham fans have called for the club to make a formal move for Marmoush’s services.

The forward is versatile enough to feature across the entire front line, and he is capable of operating effectively on the left, the right, or even in the pockets behind the main forward line.

That tactical flexibility should make it easy for him to settle in at Spurs, who are in desperate need of a player capable of performing as a striker, a left-winger, or a number ten, which will make the potential signing of Omar Marmoush a worthwhile investment.
