Spurs man set to return to club without making single league appearance on loan

Timothy Eyoma is set to return to Tottenham after his loan spell at Lincon City came to a premature end this month.

The defender, who is comfortable at both centre-back and right-back, made his competitive debut for Spurs in the FA Cup against Tranmere Rovers last year but hasn’t featured for the senior side since.

The 20-year-old has represented England at youth levels from Under-15s up to Under-19s.

Eyoma was one of several youngsters to be loaned out in January by Spurs, but the move to Lincoln City didn’t go according to plan for the youngster.

He failed to make a single league appearance for Lincoln and managed only three cup matches before the season was suspended due to COVID-19 (transfermarkt.com).

With the League One season set to be called off, the club announced their retained list for the 2020/21 campaign. Unsurprisingly, Eyoma wasn’t named in the list.

Therefore, the youngster will return to Spurs in an attempt to impress Jose Mourinho and the coaching staff during pre-season.

Spurs Web Opinion

The loan spell at Lincon has been pretty disappointing for Eyoma. However, in fairness to the defender, he spent just over two months at the club before the pandemic. As we say with the likes of Kane, a bad loan spell doesn’t necessarily mean a player isn’t good enough to make it. With several young defenders ahead of Eyoma in the pecking order, he will probably be loaned out to a League One side again next season.
