On-loan Tottenham man hailed for ‘outstanding’ performance

Joe Rodon has received plenty of plaudits for his solid display in Leeds United’s thumping win over fellow Premier League prmootion contenders Ipswich Town on Saturday.

Things could not be going any better for Rodon at Elland Road, with the centre-back now getting his career back on track after three disappointing years at Tottenham where he failed to break into the starting eleven under the likes of Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte.

There have already been some suggestions that Spurs could demand as much as £20m for the defender next summer (TEAMtalk) and the Welsh international’s stock continues to rise during his spell in Yorkshire.

Leeds desperately needed to beat Ipswich in the Championship clash on Saturday considering automatic promotion spots were seemingly slipping away from Daniel Farke’s men if they suffered a defeat at home.

Instead delivered a statement performance by thrashing the Tractor Boys 4-0 to move within seven points of their opponents.

Rodon praises for Leeds performance

Rodon was one of the stars of the show and the centre-back came in for plenty of praise after helping Leeds keep a clean sheet against what has been a free-scoring Ipswich side this season.

Former Ipswich striker Alex Mathie told BBC Sport website: “It’s not been Ipswich’s day today. Joe Rodon has been outstanding at the back [for Leeds]. He looks like a Premier League defender.”

Meanwhile, Yorkshire Evening Post gave the Spurs man a rating of 8 out of 10 rating, writing about his performance: “Solid as you like. Showed physicality where it was needed and dealt with the ball well.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham will be over the moon with interest in Rodon likely to increase in ahead of next summer if he can continue to catch the eye. Leeds might be tempted to get a deal done in January in order to avoid the increased competition at the end of the season.

However, it remains to be seen if Rodon would want to commit to Leeds, who are far from guaranteed to be back in the Premier League next season.
