Once a Spurs flop – now called up to the senior France squad

Tottenham Hotspur’s former club record signing Moussa Sissoko was labelled a flop in North London up until recently.

Spurs paid £30m (Sky Sports) for the former Newcastle man after he impressed during a blistering campaign with France in the 2016 Euros.

However, Spurs fans never seemed to take to the Frenchman as he seemed to lack drive, passion, and effort on the pitch.

Sissoko has turned his Tottenham career on its head this season with consistently high class performances in a lilywhite shirt.

The 29-year-old has been driving down the right-hand side with power and pace for Spurs of late, as well as holding things down in the centre of the park when needed.

Fans have gone from groaning at the mention of his name to positively chanting it around Wembley.

Now, according to Sky Sports, France have rewarded his uplift in form by calling him up for international duty for the upcoming matches against Netherlands and Uruguay.

He hasn’t played for his country since October 2017, and replaces the likes of Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial who have pulled out due to injury.
