Harry Redknapp has been discussing Harry Kane’s future on the Mennie Talks podcast, and the former Tottenham Hotspur boss reckons Kane will snub any move to Manchester United in favour of retiring with Spurs.
Kane has been with Tottenham his whole career, developing through the club’s academy and youth teams before breaking into the first team in 2014. He has gone on to score 267 goals for the club and is now officially Tottenham’s all-time top goalscorer (GOAL).
With his status as a club legend confirmed, there’s only one thing left for Kane to do at Spurs, and that’s winning a trophy. However, with just 18 months left on his current contract (Transfermarkt), there are rumours he could move on to pursue that aim.
Both Manchester United and Bayern Munich are believed to be keen on signing Kane in the summer (Sky Sports). Many suspect that if Kane were to move, he would want to stay in the Premier League as he hunts down the record as the league’s all-time leading goalscorer.
According to the man who gave Kane his first taste of first-team action, Harry Redknapp, the 29-year-old will stay at Spurs and end his career in North London.
He said: “I don’t think he’ll move. I can’t see him moving. I think he will end up being a one-club man like Steven Gerrard [at Liverpool]. He can walk in to any team, but does he need to? The money he’s on at Spurs is more than he can ever spend, he’s earning a fortune and quite rightly so.
“I think he’s moving house or building a new house, so his life is probably great. He loves his golf and that’s his hobby now, getting a game of golf in when he can. I can’t see him wanting to move away. I think he’ll stay.”
Spurs Web Opinion
I agree with Redknapp. I think Kane is so settled at Spurs with his family and especially after seeing all the love upon breaking the goalscoring record, he surely feels like this is the only club for him.
