Matt Le Tissier has weighed in on Xavi Simons’ struggles at Tottenham and whether Thomas Frank should drop the club’s marquee summer signing.
The pressure is continuing to pile on the Dutchman with an easy passing game, with the scanner now firmly on him.
Xavi has come under criticism for failing to impact games, and the £51m price tag is seeming to weigh heavily on his shoulders.
Some pundits have seen enough to be convinced that Xavi will come good at Spurs eventually, and a Southampton legend has now suggested that one factor will dictate if the 22-year-old continues to get chances.

Xavi Simons backed to continue starting until Tottenham stop winning
The former RB Leipzig man has got particularly bad blowback on the back of his last two performances against Aston Villa and Everton, where he struggled to influence the game.
Matt Le Tissier has now said that he has seen some promising signs with the new Tottenham Hotspur signing and believes he will continue starting matches as long as the results are favourable.
When asked about Xavi’s struggles so far this season, the pundit told Football Insider: “I think as long as the results are okay, he’ll [Frank] give him [Simons] a chance just to prove himself.
“He’s come to a different league, and some players do take a little bit longer to adapt to that. Xavi Simons isn’t the most physical player. He’s not lightning quick, so it might take him a little bit of time to adjust.
“But I like him. I think he’s got good qualities, and I think he’s proven over the years he’s been a pretty decent player, so I don’t think they’ll drop him just yet.”
Xavi appears to have the confidence of those inside Spurs
Thomas Frank has said that Xavi is still adapting to the demands of the Premier League and has continued to defend him.
The Tottenham boss even said that he was happy with the positions the 22-year-old got into against Everton, claiming that only the final action is missing for the attacker at the moment.
Reports have indicated that the feeling at Tottenham is that Xavi is a potential future ‘superstar’, with many expecting the former RB Leipzig man to thrive once he adjusts to his new surroundings.
