‘One hell of a game’ – Chris Sutton makes surprising score prediction for Liverpool v Spurs

Chris Sutton has backed Tottenham Hotspur to surprise everyone and emerge with a shock win from Anfield this Sunday.

It is fair to say that morale at Spurs right now is the lowest it has been in the Ange Postecoglou era, with the wheels now seemingly starting to come off at the North London club.

While Tottenham will feel that there was not too much wrong with their performance against Arsenal last Sunday, they have been horrid away from home over the last couple of months.

The Lilywhites have suffered big defeats away to Fulham and Newcastle recently and on Thursday, they produced what was arguably their tamest performance of the season in the London derby against Chelsea, with the Blues easing to a 2-0 win.

Liverpool vs Tottenham score prediction

Morale at Liverpool is also not great at the moment, with Jurgen Klopp’s men having struggled to pick up wins over the last few weeks. Sutton believes that the Reds’ struggles with continue on Sunday, backing Spurs to register their first win at Anfield in 13 years.

The pundit told BBC Sport: “Liverpool are not in great form and the incident with Mohamed Salah has not helped. I hope he apologised to Klopp for the way he behaved on the touchline last week.

“Salah is a great player but he is no different to everyone else in the squad in that, if he doesn’t perform well, I am afraid he is droppable. It is going to be very interesting to see whether Salah starts this game, which should be an absolute cracker.

“I thought Tottenham’s tactics would suit Arsenal last week and allow them to hit them on the counter-attack, and the same applies here.

When Liverpool turn the ball over, they are pretty devastating on the break, so the key for Spurs when they commit men forward will be to get the balance right. It will make for one hell of a game.

“Probably no one fancies Spurs to come out on top, other than me, but that’s what I think will happen, with the wheels coming off for Klopp properly this time. Prediction: 2-3.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Given how poor we have been away from home since the turn of the year, I do not think even the most optimistic Spurs fan would expect us to get anything from this game.

I can the scoreline getting ugly, given the fact that we will continue to commit a lot of bodies forward and leave spaces to be exploited.
