‘One helluva player’ – Gary Lineker raves about one Tottenham star this weekend

James Maddison put in yet another sterling display for Tottenham Hotspur this weekend in the win over Bournemouth, prompting Gary Lineker to take to social media and claim the Lilywhites have made an incredible signing.

New manager Ange Postecoglou has made a truly fantastic start to his time as Tottenham manager, with two wins and a draw in the first three games of the Premier League campaign offering plenty of promise for what lies ahead.

A convincing 2-0 win away at Bournemouth in the early kick-off on Saturday has Spurs fans smiling once again, and it was another exciting, dominant performance from the whole team at the Vitality Stadium.

Goals from James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski sealed the victory for Postecoglou’s men, but it is the former who continues to attract praise from pundits and fans alike.

The 26-year-old midfielder scored his first goal for his new club this weekend, and adds that to two assists in the first game against Brentford. Suffice to say, Maddison has proven to be a brilliant signing already, and his £40m price tag looks a steal right now.

Gary Lineker praises Tottenham’s James Maddison

After seeing Maddison pull the strings again for Spurs against Bournemouth, it is no surprise that the playmaker has been celebrated by former Tottenham and Leicester City striker, Gary Lineker.

Lineker took to Twitter after the game to simply say: “Spurs fans, you’ve got one helluva player in [James Maddison].”

Spurs Web Opinion

I think we all knew £40m for Maddison was a good deal at the time, but the way he has hit the ground running in these first few games has shown just what a bargain we have actually picked up here.

He is really making us tick, and offers so much threat going forward. On top of this, he is exhibiting great leadership skills, too, and he is going to be a most valuable asset for us this season.
