One member of the Tottenham squad is also a DJ in his spare time

It turns out Alfie Whiteman is not only Tottenham Hotspur’s fourth-choice goalkeeper, he is also a DJ, and recently recorded a show for NTS Radio.

Whiteman has come through the ranks of the Tottenham academy and is now a fully-fledged member of the first team.

Unfortunately, as a young goalkeeper, it can be hard to make your mark, especially when you’ve had Hugo Lloris in front of you for years, and now have the unenviable task of displacing new number one, Guglielmo Vicario.

As a result, Whiteman has made just one senior appearance for Spurs over the years (Transfermarkt). Indeed, he has rarely played in England at all, and has found most of his opportunities coming from two loan spells with Swedish side, Degerfors IF.

Whiteman currently finds himself behind Vicario, the injured Fraser Forster, and Brandon Austin in the pecking order in Ange Postecoglou‘s squad, but he’s finding ways to keep himself busy nonetheless.

Alfie Whiteman, the DJ

As per a report from Resident Advisor, Whiteman made his debut on the NTS Radio station this week, putting together a mix of experimental, synth pop and alternative indie vibes.

The show was broadcast on Monday 26th February, and as part of the hour-long Sweet Tooth show, Whiteman played music from artists such as John Maus, Cocteau Twins, Elliott Smith, and Floating Points.

Whiteman subsequently told MixMag: “This was my first time doing a live show. Before this, I was just making mixes and playlists on my laptop and sharing them with friends. I’ve always had a deep interest in listening to and discovering new music, so I was grateful for this opportunity.”

Spurs Web Opinion

In the nicest way possible, it’s not like Whiteman is going to play anytime soon, so he may as well explore other passions. Who knows, maybe he’ll end up quitting Spurs and joining BBC Radio 1 instead.
