‘One or two hiccups’ – Mark Lawrenson shares his Arsenal v Spurs prediction

Former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson has shared his prediction ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s Premier League fixture against Arsenal in today’s early kick off.

Tottenham travel to the Emirates with their rivals currently a point better off than them in the table and not only have the incentive of securing the north London bragging rights, but also moving up to first in the Premier League table.

Spurs are unbeaten in 13 Premier League fixtures (W9, D4) and are one shy of equalling their longest undefeated streak in the division, set from August to December 2015 and equalled in 2017-18.

Lawrenson believes that it will be a case of honours even following the international break, with both sides having to settle for a point.

He told Paddy Power: “It’s interesting this weekend because a lot of teams haven’t played for a while now. You never know how everyone’s going to shape up after international duty. Arsenal are full of goals and have started extremely well.

“Spurs have been decent with just one or two hiccups. These derbies are unpredictable and the best parts of these teams is going forward.

“Arsenal 2-2 Tottenham.”

North London derbies are always a tense affair and Tottenham need to ensure they are at the top of their game to keep their cool and ride which is likely to be an early amount of high pressure from the home side.

It is somewhat cliché, but the game is likely to be won in the midfield area and Spurs need to ensure they move the ball fast and buck their ideas up in the final third, having looked at times short of creative inspiration in the matches prior to the international fixtures.
