One Tottenham Hotspur player is now dangerously close to a suspension

Destiny Udogie is now just one yellow card away from a one-game Premier League suspension, with the Tottenham left-back now having four to his name.

Spurs head coach Ange Postecoglou has had to manage without a whole host of players due to injuries and suspensions over recent weeks, including Udogie, who sat out the recent 2-1 defeat at Wolverhampton Wanderers following his dismissal against Chelsea – a match in which he received two yellow cards.

While the likes of Manor Solomon, Ivan Perisic, Micky van de Ven, Ryan Sessegnon and James Maddison remain out of action, Tottenham were boosted by the return of Richarlison against Manchester City while Cristian Romero will once again be available for selection when West Ham United visit the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday night after serving his three-game suspension.

Udogie could face one-match ban

In a further boost, Postecoglou revealed following Spurs’ 3-3 draw with City that he is hopeful that Pape Matar Sarr will be back this week following injury (Alasdair Gold).

However, the Australian could soon be without one of his key players after Udogie‘s yellow card against City saw him collect his fourth of the season so far.

With Premier League rules stipulating that players who are booked five times before game week 19 will serve a one-match suspension, the Italian would have to sit out an upcoming fixture if he picks up a caution in any of the next five matches.

Tottenham have a relatively easier fixture list over the next month and Postecoglou can now welcome back a few of his players, which is why I do not think he will not be as concerned about Udogie’s yellow-card situation as he might have been until a week ago.
