One Tottenham star posted brilliant stats against Fulham despite defeat

Cristian Romero’s stats against Fulham make for impressive reading even though the day proved to be one to forget for Tottenham Hotspur.

Fresh on the back of a 4-0 demolition of Aston Villa at Villa Park, many would have expected Tottenham to carry on that momentum and put Fulham to the sword.

However, instead, the Lilywhites were handed a reality check on Saturday, delivering what was arguably their poorest performance of the season and falling to a 3-0 defeat.

While Radu Draguin had a chastening experience in his first Premier League start, with he and Destiny Udogie often caught napping down Fulham’s right, his centre-back partner, Romero, can hold his head up high.

Romero was Tottenham’s best performer in defeat

Sofascore handed the Tottenham vice-captain a rating of 7.8 out of 10, which is extremely impressive considering the scoreline.

According to the data analytics platform, the centre-back won 12 duals in the game in comparison to Dragusin’s four, while also making clearances, three interceptions and three tackles.

Romero was outstanding as always in possession, producing one key pass and boasting of a 92 per cent pass success rate.

Spurs Web Opinion

While there was not anything wrong with Romero’s performance, he and Draugin did appear to lack understanding, with the Romanian often playing the offside trap when the Argentine was playing the Fulham forwards onside.

That kind of miscommunication is to be expected as the two have not played together much and are still in the process of understanding each other’s game.
