‘Only consistent player’ – Garth Crooks includes Spurs star in his PL Team of the Week

Tottenham Hotspur captain Heung-min Son has made it into the Premier League Team of the Week selected by the BBC‘s Garth Crooks, after leading the Lilywhites to victory over Luton Town this weekend.

Son scored a late winner in the 86th minute as Spurs did it the hard way once again, coming from behind in the second half to secure all three points against a resilient Luton side.

Rob Edwards’ men took the lead early in the first half and held the advantage going into the second half, but as usual, Ange Postecoglou‘s side managed to turn the tide after the break.

Brennan Johnson was at the heart of everything, first forcing an own goal with a wicked ball into the box, levelling the scores after 51 minutes.

It was Johnson who laid the ball into Son for the winner in the dying moments of regulation time, too, after some fine work by Timo Werner to find him in the box. Son then applied the finish via a deflection to complete the comeback.

Heung-min Son is crucial for Spurs

It is Son who gets the recognition from Crooks, though, who said the following: “After their diabolical performance against Fulham before the international break we saw Tottenham make very hard work of a game against Luton that should have been routine.

“What happened to the team that blew Aston Villa away? And why Tottenham have to wait to go a goal behind before they realise the game has started is hard to fathom.

“What is infuriating is Tottenham’s levels of inconsistency. One minute they look like world beaters, the next perennial losers. Fortunately the only consistent player for Spurs these days is Son Heung-min. Without him they would be sunk.

“All eyes start to shift to 28th April where Tottenham fans will be desperate to see their team stop Arsenal from winning the title. Something an inconsistent Tottenham are very capable of doing.”

Son was fantastic at the weekend, but the fact Crooks hasn’t chosen Brennan Johnson for this team is ludicrous. Still, at least he is recognising Son’s consistently brilliant displays and the way our captain helps the team raise their game.
