‘Open to everything’ – Fiorentina director admits club received ‘important offers’ for Vlahovic

Fiorentina sporting director Daniele Prade has admitted that the Viola have received some ‘important offers’ for rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target Dusan Vlahovic this month.

Tottenham have been heavily linked with a move for Vlahovic over the past few months, with Antonio Conte said to have urged the Lilywhites hierarchy to make the Serbian their number one priority singing (Gazzetta dello Sport).

Over the last few weeks, Arsenal had emerged as the front-runners to snap up the 21-year-old in January (The Athletic), with the Gunners allegedly not put off by Fiorentina’s bumper price tag (The Daily Mail).

However, Fabrizio Romano revealed yesterday that Juventus are set to make a concrete offer for Vlahovic over the coming hours.

The journalist added that it would now be up to the centre-forward to decide if he wanted to complete a move to Turin before the window shuts.

Prade has now shed some light on Vlahovic’s situation, explaining that despite Fiorentina being open to selling the striker, the player’s entourage are not being transparent with their plans.

The Fiorentina director told SportItalia (as relayed by Football Italia): “We received some important offers for him. Offers that were very substantial but we never got any feedback from his agents. On our side there has always been great transparency. I refer to what Barone said yesterday, all our doors are open.

“I say this because we want to understand what he wants and what the agents want. We’re also open to sitting down again for the renewal. We have offers to sell him in a strong way. I’m saying this because a club that makes €75m a year and has a valuable asset cannot afford to lose him for free.

“We have to understand what he wants. We are open to everything. I don’t leave room for other interpretations. We’re open to everything. But the agents have to tell us their intentions.”

When asked if the offers that Fiorentina received for Vlahovic were suitable ones, Prade responded: “They were all valid and satisfactory offers, with payment methods that suited us. We couldn’t go ahead with the deal because there was never any contact with the player’s agents.”

Spurs Web Opinion

It sounds like Vlahvoic has already made up his mind regarding where he wants to go. I suspect that Juventus are the centre-forward’s preferred destination and that he is trying to force Fiorentina into to accepting the Old Lady’s offer despite the fact that the Viola have received better offers from other clubs (potentially Spurs and Arsenal).
