Opinion: A list of Tottenham’s 12 most famous fans – Tom Holland and JK Rowling

With Tom Holland recently revealing his love for the Lillywhites’ in an interview with GQ, I thought we should go through a list of our most famous fans.

Trying to compile this list was tough, we have a lot of very famous fans from all over the globe, however, I have tried to get the list down to only twelve.

The order is not totally based on worldwide fame, I have also taken into account how involved they are in and around the club for a few of the nominees.

I am bound to have missed some out of this list and I am also willing to admit there was also bias involved when putting this list together.

1. Adele

Indisputably our most famous fan is Adele. Born and raised in Seven Sisters, the 15 time Grammy Awards winner has been spotted many a time holding a Tottenham flag high above her head at our home games. There is even a clip of her on YouTube belting our ‘Glory, Glory Tottenham Hotspur.’

2. Tom Holland

The newest member of the Tottenham fanbase is one of the brightest young film stars and current Spiderman, Tom Holland. As previously mentioned he revealed with GQ that he would love to see a Tottenham vs Brentford match, as he pledges his allegiance to Tottenham and his uncle Brentford. As a massive fan of Holland, I am more than happy to claim him as a Lilywhite.

3. JK Rowling

The author of the Harry Potter and one of the most famous writers to ever live is a Tottenham fan. This reportedly is down to the majority of her family supporting the North London based club. If the team was even half as creative as JK Rowling we might start seeing some goals.

4. Sir Alan Sugar

The host of the hit series ‘The Apprentice’ and former chairman and part-owner of the club is still very vocal on social media in regards to Tottenham. His famous ‘You’re fired’ catchphrase would have come in handy with the recent sacking of Nuno.

5. Sir Trevor McDonald

Sir Trevor McDonald will always be associated with ‘ITV News at 10’ however his work getting the black community into broadcasting unfortunately often files under the radar. He is a pioneer for making the broadcasting industry more inclusive. Since his retirement in broadcasting, he has moved onto documentaries, most notably his work around the minds and lives of murderers.

6. Bruce Forsyth

The late Bruce Forsyth has been credited by Guinness World Records as having the longest career for a male presenter in British television. He was one of the greatest TV presenters to grace, he was a Spurs fan all his life. Although he did have a soft spot for Arsenal as during the war they played their games at White Hart Lane.

7. Chas & Dave

If you know anything about Tottenham you’ll know how much we love Chas & Dave. Their paths crossed with Tottenham in the early 80’s and songs such as ‘Ossies Dream’ can still be heard echoing around the ground to this very day. They will always have a place in the Spurs faithful heart. Unfortunately, Chas passed away in 2018 but he will always be remembered.

8. Steve Nash

Steve Nash is someone some of our readers will not have heard of. If you are from America on the other hand I would be extremely surprised if you had not. The NBA superstar was a two time MVP and eight-time All-Star. He was introduced to the club by his dad who grew up within a mile of White Hart Lane. His brother even once played and scored for the club. There is even a video of him crying tears of joy after our famous win against Ajax in the Champions League.

9. AJ Tracey

This one is completely biased and I am willing to admit that. AJ is one of my favourite artists. Compared to the rest of the list he may not be such a household name, however, his relationship with the club moves him up the list. He is always interacting with fans on Twitter and his love for the club cannot be questioned. Our 19/20 third kit was promoted by AJ Tracey and he is constantly referencing the club in his songs.

10. Sir Kenneth Branagh

Branagh is well known for his work in the world of Shakespeare however he is also Tottenham through and through. In an interview with TalkSport, he revealed controversially that in his all-time XI he would put Bale at left-back. This shows his knowledge that Bale started off at left-back, however, I think the disrespect to Rose here is uncalled for.

11. Jude Law

Another Hollywood superstar breaks into the list. Law has been spotted many a time watching Tottenham from the stands and has even paid a visit to the training ground before. He also had a short interview with the club after our Champions League qualification in 2010.

12. Michael McIntyre

The London based comedian is another avid Tottenham fan and has been known to attend a lot of the teams games. He was spotted at a game against West Ham in 2019 looking extremely frustrated during a 1-0 to our London rivals. It’s good to know that even celebrities can get this angry at the club we all love…or hate depending on what type of performance the team puts out.

Honourable mentions

The late Roger Lloyd-Pack (Trigger from ‘Only Fools and Horses’)

Ben Stokes (England cricketer)

Mark Wahlberg (Holywood super-star)

Matthew Horne (Gavin and Stacey)

Super Hans (Character from ‘Peep Show’)
