Opinion: Both used to being Spurs’ main man – How will Kane and Bale share the spotlight

The summer window of 2020 will definitely be one that is looked at in a positive light from a Spurs fan’s point of view, especially if it brings home the success the club are so desperate to see.

Spurs are in a good position to win silverware this season, with serial winner Jose Mourinho in charge from the start of the campaign, as well as letting him have a full summer transfer window.

Without a doubt, the return of Gareth Bale to N17 is the standout signing and one that has got fans beginning to believe that this season could be the end of the trophy drought.

However, something being massively overlooked is how the side will gel together after welcoming back the Welsh superstar.

It is no secret that generational talent Harry Kane is the main man in this current Spurs team, and it has been that way since his incredible season in 2014/15. He is the one everyone looks to, fans and players alike, to produce the big moments.

Gareth Bale has also experienced the exact same thing In North London, serving as the main man for his final few seasons in North London.

This has created a scenario that Spurs have rarely had to deal with, how will two top-class players adjust to sharing the spotlight?

Some believe a dilemma will arise from the situation, but although it is impossible to say for sure, I think they will form a wonderful partnership, and create one of the most fruitful 9 and 10 links in the club’s history.

The Spurs faithful have been crying out for the club to add another proven world-class player into a squad packed of players who have developed throughout their time at the Lane. This has been said since the Bale sale in 2013, and ironically the man to answer the cries is the one which caused them.

Every person who has followed Spurs over recent years can see that Kane and Heung Min Son cannot carry the scoring burden on their own, but the addition of Bale gives Spurs one of, if not the, best attacking front threes in the Premier League.

There is no such evidence that Kane or Bale will begin to have a change of heart or attitude as they both have experience in working with some of the world’s best. Kane has linked up well with Son since the South Korean’s arrival, as well as with Raheem Sterling, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho in the England set up.

Bale has a similar track record, the winger was surrounded with top talent at Los Blancos, linking up with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Luka Modric and Karim Benzema.

Therefore, neither Kane nor Bale will be taken by surprise by having some of the attention diverted away from them.

There are not many ways in which the return of heroic Bale to bolster the attack of legendary duo Kane and Son can be seen as negative. However, I am sure people will find a way.

Nevertheless, it is an incredible time to be part of the club and the journey ahead this season is set up to be a memorable one for all the right reasons.
