Opinion: Can Spurs really break their trophy drought with a Premier League title

It has only been four games so we will try not to get ahead of ourselves but, from what we’ve seen so far of Jose Mourinho’s Spurs, they are a force to be reckoned with.

Since the opening day defeat against Everton, Spurs have showcased just how good they can be by thumping Manchester United 6-1 and progressing in both the Europa League and Carabao Cup.

Is it totally crazy to think that Spurs could challenge for or even win the Premier League?

Harry Redknapp believes they can do just that, highlighting their new front line of Bale, Kane and Son and recognising Spurs’ strength in depth.

At long last, ENIC finally put their money where their mouth is and backed their manager, giving Jose the chance to rebuild his squad this summer.

Jose is installing a winning mentality from top to the bottom at Tottenham, aiming to take them back to the Champions League and winning ways. Joses resumé speaks for itself and if Levy and co were ever going to back a manager then Mourinho is a good bet.

You can see the mentality is already changing, players are now competing for their places, feeling the heat from new arrivals and it has given a burst of energy within the squad.

Reinforcements at fullback in the rapid Sergio Reguilon and Matt Doherty are pushing Ben Davies and Serge Aurier to a far higher level than we have seen previously. In fact, Aurier produced his best performance in a Spurs shirt against United.

Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son have been near on unstoppable with the former dropping deeper and providing sublime balls for the latter, while both hitting goals from themselves.

Their game is evolving, especially Kane with six assists already, and we are only just getting started! Add Bale into the mix and keep these powerhouses fit and Spurs are surely onto a winner.

Pierre-Emile Hojberg’s arrival from Southampton went under the radar but he is exactly what Tottenham didn’t know they needed.

Spurs have lacked leaders and the former Southampton captain has already shown that he can be one of the most dominant voices on the pitch and in the dressing room.

Hojbjerg does all the dirty work and, it may not be a pretty job, but it’s so important, something Spurs have missed since the steel underbelly of Dembele and Wanyama in 2016/2017 when they almost won the league.

Strength in depth is key for Spurs fighting on all fronts, ENIC has given Jose the tools to take this club to the next level so perhaps, just maybe, if Spurs continue as they are, winning the premier league title might not be too crazy after all.
