Opinion: Combined Tottenham and Arsenal North London Derby XI

Tottenham Hotspur welcome Arsenal to their North London stadium tomorrow for the first derby of the season between the fierce rivals.

We wanted to create a combined North London Derby XI based on the season so far:

In goal, we have opted for Hugo Lloris, who stands head and shoulders above Leno so far this season. In fact, the Frenchman has been in incredible form ever since the COVID restart.

In the centre of defence, we have opted for Toby Alderweireld and Gabriel, both of whom have been solid at the back so far this season, with the latter even popping up with some goals.

At left-back, Sergio Reguilon steals a march on Tierney, while Serge Aurier also takes the right-back spot after some surprisingly good form.

In the centre of midfield, we have gone for a robust duo of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Thomas Partey, with both transforming the look of their respective sides within minutes of taking to the pitch this season.

In the creative midfield role, we have gone for Tanguy Ndombele who has seemingly turned his Tottenham career around and looks world-class on his day.

Up front, Heung-min Son and Harry Kane walk into the side, while we have given the third spot to a highly-rated Arsenal youngster in Saka, perhaps the only shining light of a poor showing in front of goal this season.
