Opinion: Combined Tottenham and Manchester United XI ahead of PL restart

Tottenham Hotspur take on Manchester United on June 19 in their Premier League restart match, with both sides looking to steal a march on the top four race.

However, we wanted to analyse what the two clubs would look like if they combined forces and named the strongest-possible starting XI.

In goal, we have decided to think outside the box. With Lloris and De Gea struggling for their best form, on-loan Sheffield United star, Dean Henderson gets into the starting XI. The Blades shot-stopper has arguably been the keeper of the year this season.

In terms of a back four, we have decided to go for defensive solidity above all else, allowing us to choose an attacking front line.

Japhet Tanganga and Aaron Wan-Bissaka line up as two very defensive full-backs, while Harry Maguire and Toby Alderweireld provide the experience in the centre, as well as a fantastic range of passing.

We then needed someone who could sit and do the dirty work all day, winning the ball, keeping things ticking over, passing it off to the creative sparks. Harry Winks came to mind as someone who doesn’t mind others getting the plaudits.

The creative sparks in question come from Giovani Lo Celso and Bruno Fernandes, who line up behind the likes of Heung-min Son, Marcus Rashford, and Harry Kane. That means goals!

Paul Pogba and Tanguy Ndombele both miss out for similar reasons, they are both extremely talented but have not yet shown a desire to work for the team.
