Opinion: Combined Tottenham Hotspur and Man United XI

Tottenham Hotspur and Man United go head to head in a Jose Mourinho derby this week, with Spurs travelling to Old Trafford almost exactly a year after the Special One was sacked.

With both teams struggling at the start of this season, let’s take a look at who would make our combined XI at the moment:

Goalkeeper – David De Gea

An easy choice here, still one of the best in the world and far more experienced than Tottenham’s current choice of Paulo Gazzaniga.

Left-back – Brandon Williams

Slim pickings here so I am going for an up-and-comer. Brandon Williams has slotted into that left-back spot over Luke Shaw of late and the 19-year-old looks really impressive.

Centre-backs – Davinson Sanchez and Victor Lindleof

Again, not a lot to choose from at either club with senior players out of form this season, but these two stand out as the most consistent in either team. Both are also young and have room to improve.

Right-back – Serge Aurier

A month ago this would have been Wan-Bissaka hands down, but after a surge in form from Serge and some dodgy performances from Aaron, the Ivorian takes it.

Central midfield – Tanguy Ndombele and Harry Winks

Man United’s midfield is just woeful, in my opinion. The only one who you could make a case for is Pogba, but I hate his attitude, he is injured, and it doesn’t look like he wants to be there. Ndombele shows the signs of becoming a class act and Winks is a valuable addition to any team.

Attacking midfield – Dele Alli

His recent performances speak for themselves. Dele is back!

Left-midfield – Heung Min Son

Quickly becoming one of the best in the world in this position.

Right-midfield – Marcus Rashford

One of the in-form scorers in the league and carrying United on his young shoulders at the moment.

Striker – Harry Kane

Who else?
