Opinion: Does playing two up top hold Spurs back?

When Spurs have a fully fit squad, it is obviously impossible to fit them all in. However, I do not think that having two strikers is the answer. Since Harry Kane suffered his injury late last season, Pochettino has started with two players up front, most often being Son and Kane.

However, I believe that Spurs need to go back to a 4-2-3-1. Leaving Harry up top on his own, which he performs best, holding up the ball and bringing others in to play.

This is most effective when he has speedy players around him and the intelligence of either Alli or Eriksen to pick the passes.

Despite Son being a more than able deputy to Kane, Spurs do not often ‘hoof the ball long’ and therefore it is not always possible for Son to use his pace to get in behind defenders.

I think he is far more effective with the ball played to feet when he can run directly at the opposition to create space for himself and others.

Admittedly, lots of Spurs players can play different positions, with Kane able to play the number 10 role and Lucas/Son able to act as stand-alone strikers. However, in my view, there should only be one striker and one focal point and his name is Harry Kane!

What formation do you think we should play?
